Welcome to the Detoxing Green Diva Blog! My name is Linda and I’m so excited to share with you the important tips and health products that I’ve found over the past few years. These tips have significantly helped in healing my body, from the inside out. I work as RN and only a daily basis, I see the consequences of poor nutrition and stress on the body. I believe that obesity, some mental, and physical illnesses are a result of the body being deficient of certain nutrients and it’s crying out for help. Being sick leads to a vicious cycle of symptoms, taking multiple meds to alleviate them, the meds then causing major side effects and new symptoms, and then you’re prescribed another new med. I also believe if we give our bodies the right nutrients and care, it can be strong enough to heal itself. There’s a BIG misconception on health nowadays. I feel like it’s my duty to share with you what I have learned on my road of discovery about nutrition and holistic health. This knowledge can help change your life and the life of others. Do not be overwhelmed with all the info. Do what you can and have belief that every little counts. I hope you too will see the changes in your body, like I did with mine.
I love the Go Raw seeds and snacks. It’s a family owned company that does the work for us by using sprouted seeds in their products. Soaking seeds activates production of beneficial enzymes. Raw nuts have enzyme inhibitors neutralized by soaking and grains have a outer layer called phytic acid which block the absorption of calcium, magnesium, copper, iron, and zinc. So thats why it’s recommended to soak/sprout seeds, nuts, and grains in filtered water, using a mason jar, for 24-48 hours (depending on what your soaking). You’ll get the maximum nutrition from these 3 whole food sources of protein and they will also be easier to digest.
Eat Light to Heavy-
Kimberly Snyder, celebrity nutritionist, states in her book that In today’s society, people are told to eat a hearty breakfast, so that they can have energy and the rest of the day to burn it off. False! Breakfast is important but what you eat is more important. If you notice, after eating a heavy meal, that “full” feeling causes your body to feel sluggish/tired. That is not good. Food should give you energy and not just satisfy your hunger then make you crash. Starting from the last bite from the night before and throughout the night, your body is detoxing. That’s why we wake up with crust around our eyes, body odors, and bad breath. Eeek! You’re body detoxing is a good thing. But once you eat something unhealthy, your body stops detoxing bc it has transfer it’s energy to start breaking down whatever you’re eating. Snyder states that it is important to eat a healthy protein free breakfast. She recommends drinking water with lemon, fruit/veg juice, and if you’re still hungry, gluten free bread w/ butter. When lunch comes around you can have a heavier meal. Make sure you eat light to heavy. That means start off first with the type of food mostly composed of water, to more dense foods. Fruits digest in 30-45 mins, starches 3-4 hours, and meat takes even longer. For example, you should eat fruit, then a salad, carbs, then meat. I know that sounds like a inconvenience but the reasoning behind it is, if you start eating a protein first, your body is working more than 3-4 hours to break it down. So if you eat fruit or less dense food after that, you cause a traffic jam. Resulting in food waiting in your stomach fermenting (rotting). That fermentation causes bloating, acid reflux, etc. The way we eat is just the way society has taught us to believe that’s normal. So if you keep this in mind, you will slowly grow accustomed to it. Your body will thank you bc you will be saving energy and causing easy digestion flow. This will also help you loose weight bc you’re digesting food properly and moving it along your body to prevent constipation. So think about the light to heavy tip for the whole day and also each individual meal.
What vitamins should women take?
This is a chart of recommended supplements for women. The supplements I see missing are the digestive enzymes and probiotics. Also, if you have a specific health issue, there may be a supplement you can take, instead of a med that can cause side effects. I firmly believe your body is strong enough to heal itself, if its given the right nutrients. Make sure to take these supplements with a balanced diet.

I try to drink a ounce of fresh wheatgrass everyday, at Robeks, to help my body detox. As you can see, there are many health benefits of wheatgrass. Be careful not to start drinking too much, too fast. The first time I took a shot, I had huge headache afterwards. It scared me bc I don’t get headaches or have any allergies. Come to find out, its such a potent detoxifier, that my body was reacting to the detoxification. Now I have no problem taking it. If you guys are wondering what is tastes like, it tastes like how it looks and smells, like grass.
Superfoods by David Wolfe AKA Avocado-
I read this book by David Wolfe who is a known in the raw food community as a the Guru. The book is about the super-foods of the world. Wolfe states the super-foods include cacao ( real dark chocolate), green algae, chia seeds, maca, hemp seeds, acai, honey, and goji berries. He says you can eat pounds of other fruits and veggies but it would not compare to the benefits when eating a little amount of these super-foods. Believe it or not, I ordered most of the super-foods on amazon so that I can put it in my smoothies. They were definitely good boosters.

Rules to live by the Dalai Lama-
I’ve reached a point in my life where I realized money and material goods are becoming less important to me. True inner peace is what I’m trying to achieve in life. I have learned it all starts in your mind, the way you think, and the way you act. Life can be hard, money is always needed, and I’m still trying to control my lavish ways. Im trying to look at everything as a lesson learned and practicing forgiveness. Easier said then done, I know. True wealth is good health and inner peace. Also, means being content and cherishing life for what is really offers. It’s easy to get caught up in the fakeness and superficiality in today’s society. So the Dalai Lama gives us rules to keep in my mind as we grow in life.
Following the food combining model will help prevent digestion problems like acid reflux, bloating, and gas. When you mix certain types of food together, you jam your digestion flow. For example, its not good to eat a protein and a carb together, like steak and potatoes. It takes acidic stomach secretions to break down the protein and alkaline stomach secretions to break down the starch. When the two secretions mix, it creates a neutralizing environment in your stomach. The neutralizing results in food not being digested thus, fermenting (rotting) in your stomach….gross! It takes your body hours and a lots of energy to digest that combination. It’s also recommended to eat fruit on a empty stomach, wait 3-4 hours in between meals, and to eat greens with or before protein, so that the veggie’s enzymes can aid your body in digestion. Conserve your body’s energy so that it can be used for other important functions, like healing and protecting. Go to the site below to find out more about the food combining theory.
